Burnt

Collection of wooden objects that draws inspiration from one of the most powerful natural phenomena in our world, which is getting out of hand.

Today, the percentage of wildfires is lower than those caused by humans.The giant fires, which rapidly devour the forests and resumes, leave behind a slightly surreal landscape of burnt and black forest.

In an era characterized by fast and changing fashion that leads to polluting and wasteful industries, I felt that my role as a designer requires me to relate to and embrace values such as sustainability, environmental activism and zero waste.

The project provides a green alternative to a matter, and seeks to bring man and nature together by giving man an active role in growing and recycling the object.

Out of interest in this show was created the desire to preserve the unique aesthetic of the burnt wood and to express the feelings and questions it raises as raw material. The same scorched aesthetic combined with everyday objects, on the one hand, serves as a means of confrontation with the situation we have created and its ecological consequences, and on the other, as a visual echo of the magnitude of the fire and its visual effects that may be born due to the rise in world fires.

The vases examine the surreal burnt landscape within the objects through a variety of shapes, techniques, and layers. By focusing on the range between the iconic image of wood and the unexpected way of the fire to consume and change the material.

The first, testing the thickness of the vase in different parts and how the fire affect edges of the object, while the second researching the changes of the Silhouette with the burning process.

The tought of wood as a raw material, that carry its legacy as a tree within it, and the direct link between the fire and its traces on the woods combined into a sirie of burnt candle holders with eco of their story.
